MINI Cooper S R53 82°C Thermostat

Designed as a direct replacement for 2002–2008 MINI models, this thermostat improves overall cooling performance by significantly reducing excessive engine temperatures. It is engineered to open at a lower temperature of 82°C (180°F)  than standard thermostats (90°C – 194°F), allowing coolant to circulate through the engine earlier and helping to maintain lower operating temperatures. Each unit is digitally calibrated to ensure precise and consistent operation.

Through years of extensive road and track testing, we refined and released this thermostat to ensure reliable performance in real-world and high-stress conditions. By opening sooner with a smoother, more linear actuation than factory thermostats, it reduces peak engine temperatures and helps maintain a cooler, more stable operating range. Digitally calibrated and constructed using high-quality wax, each thermostat delivers repeatable, accurate opening temperatures and includes a silicone gasket for a clean, leak-free installation.
